Tombois 2: Jiz Lee & Sovereign Syre

by Jiz Lee on / Queer Porn

Dana Vespoli is one of the best directors in porn. So when she asked if I’d like to work for her, I jumped. It was also the first time I met Sovereign Syre. My general rule is to work with people I’ve already met but I made an exception, crushed out on intellect in the words of her blog and Twitter. Sovvy picked me up from airport and we got to know each other over breakfast. A few hours later, we were flirting poolside.

Nominated 2015 AVN Awards’ Best Girl-Girl Scene, it’s a solid example of unscripted “lesbian” sex and butch desire. Though I don’t identify as a woman (I’m genderqueer), I still value the opportunity to diversify images of female sexuality. A short haircut can make me a “gateway queer” exposing curious viewers to diverse gender and sexual experiences. Plus, as was the case for Tombois 2, it’s a great job.

Tombois 2

Stars: Jiz Lee, Sovereign Syre
Description:

In the second installment of Sweetheart’s sexy series, lesbian butches and femmes come together in four electric scenes. Stunning Jiz Lee seduces curvy Sovereign Syre poolside, driving the beauty into multiple orgasms. Zany beauty Celeste Star tries to turn on boyish Alani Pi, as the cute butchy girl tries to fix Celeste’s car. Alani manages to fix more than Celeste’s car as the two pleasure each other over and over. Tomboi Raven Rockette works to convince girly girlfriend Jodi Taylor to come out to her parents, plying her with mind-blowing orgasms in the process, and finally Nina Hartley and Lily Cade go at it, showing everyone why she won the Mile High Sweepstakes in an adrenaline raising, crazy scene filled with passion and pleasure!

Femme on Femme: Queer Porn’s New Angle on Girl/Girl Fantasy

by Jiz Lee on / Books, Erotica & Anthologies

I recently finished reading “Visible: A Femmethology” for a book review on CarnalNation.com. Here’s an excerpt:

Though every femme story is unique, there are a few themes which illuminate common struggles. Topics such as ‘passing’—being recognized as one’s identity, be it a queer woman, a bisexual woman, or a femme, prove to be challenges that unite the authors’ experiences. Further complexities such as health, sexual abuse, economic standing, and racial and cultural oppressions also define life experiences and the authors’ relation to their femme identity, however it is defined. It was such a validating collection of very different works coming from very different experiences. (And, if you checked out the review, you saw that perhaps not everyone’s voice was included.)

What I took from reading all those different stories was a stronger defined perspective and attitude about femme pornstars. More specifically, the inspiration to reconsider the language with which I use to talk about femme pornstars in queer and ‘not-exactly-queer’ porn. The concept of passing as femme is extremely interesting to me in my identity as a genderqueer pornstar and how my gender has been expressed and experienced within the work that I do. Femme for me pushes various topics… on ‘fitting in’ when in comes to mainstream porn, girl/girl work, the visibility and bisexual women and transwomen models, the identity of femme trannyfags, and the gendered perception of hair.

I’ll write a post about my thoughts on that soon! (Hence the title… I couldn’t help but get started on some thoughts!

In the meantime: take a glance, cause I really enjoyed writing this for CarnalNation.com
