Porno Totale, an ‘insane effort to make a porno movie talking about religion and philosophy – through art’.

by Jiz Lee ~ September 21, 2009

I just received an email from the Pornpope telling me about Porno Totale.

Porno Totale (Total Porn) is an “insane effort to make a porno movie talking about religion and philosophy – through art”. It was created by the Pornsaints and El Diablo Productions and really has something going for it.

I was just talking to a friend about our desire for artistic pornographic film. The most insane (to use the word) movie I’ve seen that fits this category is Pier Paolo Pasolini’s SALO, Or the 120 Days of Sodom, based on The Marquis de Sade from The 120 Days of Sodom. Not exactly bedtime reading material. You can read several fascinating reviews on Epinions.com, TheAutuers.com, or about it’s unbanning in Australia, though by far my favorite has been this hilarious video review by CinemaSnob. In consideration of the sheer taboo sensationalism of SALO, there seems hardly a way to make anything more controversial or extreme, so let’s have with more philosophically/religiously-spiritually motivated porn/art, shall we?

Do visit the church of pornsaints, located at pornsaints.org. And while you’re there, you can also check out my pornsaint portrait by Jeff Faerber and the recent addition of Syd Blakovich by Aunia Kahn. Great work, Pornsaints and Pornpope, and congrats on Porno Totale!

This reminds me of The Ecstasy of St. Theresa by Bernini. Ah…sexually explicit Renaissance art. I hope it got a cameo.
