This year’s limited edition holiday card is here! Photography and photoshop composite by Bobby Gordon taken at an absolutely gorgeous private garden swimming pool in Berkeley that I am still dreaming about. 

When Bobby told me about his idea to create a composite image of me around the space, it immediately resonated. I often feel split in different and often contrasting worlds, struggling to focus on various responsibilities and passions. I try to balance my physical ambitions, my sexual creativity, my businesses, my side jobs… all a constant juggle. Society tries to fit us into simple little boxes and labels, but to borrow a line from Whitman’s poem: “I contain multitudes.” 

This photo concept was fun to create, pulling different outfits and poses to represent some (and by no means all) of the different ways I move through life. Thank you Bobby for the chance to collaborate, and during our shoot, an open talk about navigating these worlds we inhibit.

Please note: while I usually focus on funding specifically to sex-positive organizations, I feel it’s okay if you are drawn to broader support. Two examples: Close to home for me is the fire that devastated Lāhaina earlier last year, leaving thousands of families still in dire need of assistance. At the same time across the world, the loss of homes, lives, and humanity grows in Palestine. While there may seem like there is nothing we can do from a distance, we can learn, we can act through protest and politics, and we can donate. I found a helpful post on Autostraddle with a resource of articles and organizations to aid. I’ve been making time to read Palestinian authors Light in Gaza: Writings Born of Fire and Interviews with Radical Palestinian Women — if you can avoid Amazon, please support indie book stores and publishers! Human suffering is heartbreaking to witness and can feel hopeless in these challenging times. If you’re able to provide help at any level, it can make a difference in someone’s life and bring yourself some hope in understanding you are among are others who care.
